The evaluation, of the Anti Money Laundering (AML) and combating terrorism financing (CFT) regime of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was based on the Forty Recommendations 2003 and the Nine Special
Recommendations on Terrorism Financing 2001 of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF), and was prepared using the AML/CFT Methodology 2004.
The evaluation was conducted by an evaluation team, which consisted of members of the MENAFATF Secretariat and MENAFATF experts in criminal law, law enforcement and financial issues.
This report provides a summary of the AML/CFT measures in place in Jordan, it describes and analyses those measures, and sets out Jordan’s level of compliance with the FATF 40 and 9 Recommendations.
In accordance with the Mutual Evaluation procedures, the Kingdom submitted its first follow-up Report to the (MENAFATF) Secretariat which included all the corrective actions in order to address the deficiencies related to the FATF 40 and 9 Recommendations in which the Kingdom was rated "Partially Compliant" or "Non-Compliant". The Report was presented to the 13th, Plenary Meeting of the (MENAFATF) which was held in the State of Kuwait during the period from May 3rd - 5th, 2011. The Plenary Meeting decided that the Kingdom Should provide the second follow - up report on the 16th Plenary Meeting (i.e. after one year and a half of submitting the first follow - up report).
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan 2nd Follow up Report was discussed during the Middle East & North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) Plenary Meeting which was held in Marrakech/ Kingdom of Morocco during the period from November 27th-29th, 2012. The 2nd Follow up Report of the Kingdom elaborates the corrective measures taken by the Kingdom since May 2011 in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing with the international recommendations set out in the Mutual Evaluation Report of the Kingdom for (non-compliant) or (partially compliant) that was adopted in May 2009. Furthermore, the Plenary Meeting approved the submission of exit request from the on-going follow up process to the process of updating every two years by the Kingdom in the next plenary meeting of the (MENAFATF).
The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is a member of the Middle East and North Africa Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) since 2004, Jordan has assumed the presidency of the (MENAFATF) in 2007.
